END OF LIFE SUPPORT FOR HUMANS

The Golden Crossing

Support for the crossing, and for everyone standing at the shore

Golden Crossing is my end of life support service for people who are dying and the families walking with them. It is presence, planning, education, and hands-on care, shaped around your family, your beliefs, and your home. New to the idea of a death doula? Start with what a death doula is.

Every family arrives here differently. Some come at diagnosis with time to plan, some come in the final weeks, or some come after, needing help with what remains.

THE ARC OF SUPPORT

What working together can look like

I

The first conversation

A free call, no commitment. You tell me what's happening, I tell you honestly how I can help and how I can't, and we decide together whether this is a fit.

II.

Before

Planning while there's still room to choose: advance directives, wishes for care of the body, vigil planning, legacy work, and education for the family so nothing arrives as a stranger. Ayurvedic comfort practices woven in where they're wanted.

III.

During

Presence. At the bedside, in the home, in the hospital, wherever your person is. Comfort care, steady hands, coordination with hospice and everyone else in the room, and space held for the family to simply be the family.

IV.

After

I'm there, at the bedside, on the phone, or in ritual for as much or as little of the active dying process as you need.

V.

After the Crossing

Guidance through what comes next: care of the body, home vigil if chosen, funeral home coordination, and grief support in the weeks that follow. The crossing doesn't end at the moment of death, and neither does the support.

"We spend our whole lives learning to arrive. This is learning to depart, and it deserves the same care."

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I reach out?

I respond within 48 hours, and we schedule a free conversation, by phone or in person. No commitment comes with it. We talk about what's happening, what you need, and whether I'm the right fit. If I'm not, I'll help you find who is.

My person is in their final days. Is it too late to call you?

No. Some of my most important work begins in the last days or hours. Call or text me directly rather than using the form, and I will come as quickly as I'm able.

We already have hospice. Would you be redundant?

No, and hospice teams are often glad when a doula joins. They provide the medical care and I provide the time: hours of presence, planning, family support, and continuity after death.

Can we work with you for just one part of this?

Yes. Some families want only planning while everyone is well. Some want vigil presence in the final days. Some come to me only after a death, needing guidance through what remains. The arc bends to what your family actually needs.

What if my person isn't ready to talk about dying?

That's common, and it doesn't close the door. I can work with the family first, helping you prepare and understand, at whatever distance your person needs. Readiness has its own timing, and pushing is not part of my work.

What does The Golden Crossing cost?

It depends on what your family needs, so we start with the free conversation and I'll be straightforward about costs there. The Community Care Fund exists so that money is never the reason a family goes through this alone.

New to all of this? The bigger questions, what a death doula is, how this differs from hospice, when to reach out, are answered on the What is a Death Doula page.
